Good Ole' Boys Gone Wild... Or Just Acting Normally?

The Spook Who Sat By the Door asks the following question:

"Why are recruits required to maintain a 75% average, exceeding the requirements for most college undergraduates, when firefighters seeking promotions are only required to achieve grades between 63% and 67% - less than is required for graduating from most high schools?"

Special Order 31 Series 2008 for:
Sergeant Score Avg. - 67%
Lieutenant " " - 64%
Captain " " - 63%

The test was in violation of the agreement (Article 20) between the city and Local 36. Which meant the test will be given again at an additional cost to the city.

One of the major problems with racism is that it breeds mediocrity. In the case noted above, the recruits are required to be better and smarter than those who would supervise them.

I guess that explains why officers hesitate before giving good advice.

Sounds like your department is working backwards, blindly approaching self-destruction. Your chiefs like really need to go back to the "certified" drawing board and get some real training, outside of this "nepotized network" to learn how to run your department proficiently. These allegations are an embarrassment to the reputation of the Nation's Capital. Unbelievable!

So what you are saying is that the whites are in fact smarter than the blacks. And in order to graduate more blacks from the training academy the department should lower the passing scores. And since there have been several blacks fired for discipline related acts why not give the blacks more chances than the whites. It sounds like you are not in favor of quality just quantity.

This last comment does not relate to anything that was posted in "Good Ole' Boys Gone WIld... Or Just Acting Normally>" but sounds like a Jay Walk Allstar Gone Wild. But, we thank you - it just proves our point! And please, comment more. It's always important to remind intelligent people of your brilliance.
