Dennis Rubin worked as an instructor for University of Maryland Fire Institute and is friends with Steven Edwards (Department Head of UMD Fire Institute). DCFD is sending Firefighters to be trained at the Institute at a cost of $600,000 per year and that is opposed to being trained at UDC or being trained in house, as they traditionally had been. This is a trifling way of spending our tax dollars - $600,000 is an outrageous sum. Lehan has gotten approximately 45 days of overtime since January of 2008 though he has not served on an ambulance (which is customary in the DCFD if you take days off). He still receives a disproportionate amount of overtime and did so even when there was a surplus of firefighters - meaning there was no need for overtime!
SMELL FISHY to you? Yeah, to us too.

As a DC Tax payer this is outrageous. We may need to recall this mayor, we need a real man and or woman of the people, not a pretender
This city loses enough money through non local workers, no industry that is functionable to delevop income into the city, and now this. We have enough money problems with the city budget as it is already for some to try and pinch off more.
Many of us walked the campaign beat with Mr. Fenty to get him elected as the Ward 4 Council member. Many still walked the beat with then Council member Fenty to get him elected as Mayor. But who is this man? What is this man about? Why has he turned his back on the people that jump started his political career? If you call his office for an emergency appointment, a chief of staff will get back to you and tell you something like this "due to the Mayor's busy schedule and previous commitments he can not meet with you at this time". Due to my busy shedule and my work schedule I did fundraising for him. I put up signs for him, I wrote checks to his campaign, I pass out flyers. I worked the polling polls primary and election nights. I did my part, but Mayor Fenty "has turned his back on the middle class folks who helped him the most". It is a sin before Almighty God that he has done so!

Officers do ride abulances in DC you moron..stop hiding and come out. I have seen Sgt's and Lt's riding. Sgt's are preceting all of the time. Firefighting Sgt's and Lt's that are medics ride all of the time.
Get your facts straight. Our Great Deptartment currently has a hidden agenda, and it seems people of color do not fit the scheme, so they are outcasted, hidden, defamed, falsely accused, labeled as disgruntled, or just placed in a continuous hostile environment.
What have they done with all of the Black Chiefs that live in the City...Passed over them for Promotion...The Fire Chief as Well as the MAYOR knows what is going on.
By the time all of the EEO lawsuits are finished, the Rosenbaum deal that brought Racist Rubin here, will be a bargin compared to the millions that it is going to cost "the DC taxpayers".
The $600,000 that he has given MFRi as well as having all of the eligible members that took the promotional exam were required to purchase a manual that Steven Edwards (head of MFRI) wrote, thus adding more money to his pockets...do you smell a "kickback"?
By the way I hear that Rubin, moved around the country taking jobs, up to the rank of Fire Chief without going up through the ranks in a competitive promotional process!!! How in the HELL is he the FIRE CHIEF in DC, when everyone is required to test for promotion...and he didnt.
This is not a RIGHT TO WORK STATE, maybe someone needs to tell him...

Why are the drivers of FMES motor vehicles involved in some many accidents?
I understand when they are involved in an accident they frame the other driver.
Such as the Metro Bus incident and Mr. Alfred Hawkins who was allegely framed by a supervisor from local engine 11 when the supervisor struck his taxi cab.
What is going on here?
Chief Rubin needs to get a handle on this or he needs to hand in his resignation papers. Thisis out of control.
